AYAHUASCA
Ayahuasca is a vine of the amazon jungle, its scientific
name is: banisteriopsis caapi spruce. The shipibos villages
know it by the name of nishi or oni, it is used as a sacred
plant and known by many inca villages and the indigenous
peoples of the peruvian amazon.
The sacred inca beverage “ayahuasca” (known as “the wine of
the gods”), is the product of a concoction that we make of
three plants, they are:
- the ayahuasca plant (that is, the umbilical cord between
us and mother nature, la pachamama. This connects us with
our ancestral spirit).
- el chacruna (this permits us to see when we are in another
dimension).
- el thoe (gives the lucidity to recall and to analyze each
vision, to recognize each energy and incan spirit that
approaches us and to be able to recall it without losing our
focal point.)
It is important to mention that the ayahuasca is eliminated
naturally from the body in four days, but the effect only
lasts for six or seven hours.
In the ayahuasca ceremonies one finds oneself in the
presence of the gods of the land, water, fire, etc. The
incas were able to make contact with their divinities
through ceremonies and taking sacred beverages. These
beverages carried them to the world of the gods where they
connected with their inner spirit and eliminated their
doubts.
These beverages have the gift to open the third eye that we
all have, and to be able to see reality from a higher
point.
Ayahuasca is also used to treat illness where traditional
medicine cannot. It makes for a very powerful, mystical
beverage in the andean world.
The sessions with these inca beverages must be directed by
experienced guides and carried out in powerful places inside
or outside of the city of cusco, this is due to the fact
that a place of powerful energy makes the contact with the
inca divinities more potent and direct.
