The Choquekiraw means “Cradle of gold” in Quechua and is
found located in the skirts of the snow-covered Salkantay -
Cusco, on the right side of the river Apurímac. Some of its
visitors attest that its majesty and dimensions are greater
than those of Machu Picchu and its constructions. On
various levels Choquequirao constitutes an archaeological
complex that is covered by a great cloak of magic and
mystery that has not been revealed to date.
Choquekiraw is an
extraordinary archaeological Inca site, where you will
appreciate hundreds of platforms, rooms and irrigation
systems.The complex is
situated in a low mountain zone on the edge of a forest to
the northwest of the Apurímac Canyon; it is characterized by
its abundant vegetation, excellent tropical climate and a
diversity of flora and fauna.
